10 Favorite Things

Hello and Welcome! It’s been a minute since I introduced myself. So let me start . . . .

Hello! I’m Olivia. I’m your friendly, portrait photographer, based in Frisco, Texas.

I’m also a wife, mom, dog-mom, design junkie, crafter, and Scout.

I can help you easily enjoy your family portraits.

In an effort to get to know one another a little better, here are a few of my favorite things.
Listed in no particular order.

1. Oatmeal with chocolate chips. I love oatmeal, granola, trail mix, etc. Add in chocolate and it gets better. Healthish, with chocolate. Win.

2. My iPhone. The best camera is the one you have with you. Each incarnation of smart phones improves the camera and software onboard, far outpacing point and shoot digital cameras. And you know it’s always with you.

3. Printing Memories. Holding a favorite picture is an emotional and tactile experience. It is different to see an image in print, feel the paper, and know it won’t disappear quickly in a scroll. Below are two of my favorite online printers.

Artifact Uprising: Sustainable practices and high quality prints. Print your Instagram feed favorites on their heavy-weight Mohawk paper. It’s soooo nice. My fine art paper-loving/darkroom soul geeks out over luxurious textured photo paper, https://www.artifactuprising.com/photo-prints/square-photo-prints-set.

Mpix.com: This company offers just about everything and is a sister company to the professional photography lab I use. This is where I order prints for my scrapbooks because I want my crafted images to be perfectly color-correct. Way better than a one-hour print, https://www.mpix.com/products/prints.

4. Framing Memories. This frame from Pottery Barn makes a big art statement with minimal effort. Easily pop in your favorite printed Instagram pictures and enjoy your feed without looking at your phone.

5. Friends who Fight Social Injustice. Whoa. Dropped a deep one in here. Thanks to social media we all have a voice, even if we think it’s small. If we speak up and out to counter what we know is wrong, it’s a step toward change. Speak up when you are scared. Speak up, even when you know it will cause friction with another. Speak up with love. Speak out for love of your neighbor, friend, sister, and child. Thank you to my friends who are speaking out by peaceful protesting, by sharing stories of injustice, by learning hidden history, and by opening their minds.

6. Connection. Smiles, hugs, quick messages to let someone know they are important. Now more than ever, we are all keenly aware of how connection keeps life fulfilling and maintains our mental health.

7. Organization. Creating order is therapeutic to the anxious soul, especially when the world seems to be swirling negatively away. Organizing craft supplies are my particular favorite. My go-tos for creating a happy, organized spaces are Ikea and the Container Store. (My next DIY organization project is the bathroom cabinets.)

8. Chuy’s Father Agave margarita and Creamy Jalapeño Ranch dip. We make very, very good margaritas at home (good limes is the key), but I haven’t nailed the perfect dip. I have tried a few Pinterest recipes for the famous Chuy’s dip. No luck yet. Once I succeed, I will never have to go out again.

9. Doing a Good Turn. Big or small. Planned or not. Leave the world better than you found it. Helping another nourishes the soul. Simple acts like picking up litter blowing across the parking lot, returning a shopping cart to the corral so it doesn’t ding someone’s car, or offering a compliment only take a second. https://blog.scoutingmagazine.org/2019/11/12/did-you-remember-to-do-your-daily-good-turn-today/

10. Wine. Good wine. Wine that doesn’t give you headaches. Wine that has no additives or added sugar. My favorites often include selections from Scout & Cellar. If you need a local rep, check here.
