This sweet family asked me to documented one of their most important moments, their baby’s first birthday! To make the most out of their session, we planned for family portraits, baby portraits with a few props and saved the smash cake fun for the end.

We worked together planning what to wear, what props to include, and what the smash cake should look like. Since we collaborated on the details in advance and discussed what time of day worked best for baby Beau, their session was a smashing success!

Tip: Planning around nap and meal times keeps everyone happy! Also, new toys or clothing may not always be welcomed by young children. Introducing them to new textures, noises, or objects is best done in advance of your portrait session. Most of us like a little preparation before we head off to a new experience.
